Putting your loved one in a care home is not always the answer. If finding a care home and choosing the right care home are not proving successful domiciliary care may be a short or medium term solution.
"Domiciliary Care", better known as Home Care, is where the "service user" (a horrible term used in the care sector its means your mother, father, grandparent, or indeed yourself) is cared for in their own home.
A carer, sometimes known as a home help, will come and visit and perform certain tasks. The visit times, frequency and tasks will be determined by the need of the service user. This could be as basic as going shopping, to 24 hour live-in care.
If you cannot face the though of a loved one in a residential or nursing home, then domiciliary care may be possible and may be the right option.
